Conservatives Burning Nikes In Protest

Conservatives Burning Nikes in Protest

An American football player’s public protest against police brutality and racial discrimination may have cost him his career. Kaepernick ignited a growing trend among US pro athletes to “take a knee” during the national anthem at the start of games. The campaign helped support him but also brought hate towards Nike. The ad is a black-and-white close-up of Kaepernick’s face with the words, “Believe in something, Even if it means sacrificing everything." - a reference dedicated to the NFL lawsuit for allegedly colluding to keep the former San Francisco 49ers, quarterback over the protests.

People that were disappointed with the move began to fire their sneakers and sportswear to protest Nike using Kaepernick to promote the 30th anniversary of its "Just Do It" advertising campaign.

Nike's choice to build his brand around Kaepernick with his post-Labor Day payout, what he stands for, and all the policies that come with it look less and less like a risk and more like a surefire win.

In my opinion, it is unnecessary for people to burn their Nike shoes and sneakers. Kaepernick did the right thing and was trying to spread a positive message to end racial injustice that is still happening until this day. During the national anthem, the Americans including Donald Trump responded in a poorly manner. Despite the fact that they took Kaepernick as disrespecting the country, he had the right to protest. He took a stand for what he believed in and sacrificed his career for it. What bothers me the most is that people are angry over someone who is protesting a very serious problem. In addition, the ad was very motivational and inspiring. Nike actually gained more money after this. In no way does this campaign affect me because Nike did a significant job in standing against police brutality. I respect Kaepernick and Nike for doing this.
